Having spend well over $3,000,000 in production costs, the original animated Cinderella film was released in 1950 by Walt Disney Productions.  It was intended to save the studio from going under and it did the trick!  Cinderella was Disney’s first huge success since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs which had been release in 1937.
